Venues

Lewisham may not have a dedicated cinema, but residents nonetheless can enjoy a wide variety of films at an eclectic range of venues. In April 2009, a one-off capital grant was made from Lewisham Council to fund projection equipment and set up costs for non-traditional venues in the borough. Watch this space for one or two brand new additions to Lewisham's film club family. Click on the venues in the map below for details.

  • The Albany


    The Albany, in the heart of Deptford, is a multi-use performing and digital arts venue, with a strong focus on working with diverse, local communities. The Albany is actively developing its film programme, launching with a series of events including Urban Screen, the Black History Month Short Film Challenge and BFM Festival.

  • The Brockley Jack Film Club


    The former haunt of highwaymen, the Brockley Jack theatre and pub now host film nights once a month on Sunday evenings, often to full houses. Locally made shorts are shown before the main feature. Recent films have included El Bano del Papa and The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Become an annual member and reap the benefits!

  • Broadway Theatre


    The Grade I-listed, Art Deco Broadway Theatre was built in 1932. The only 35mm film venue in the borough, the Broadway offers a uniquely vintage film experience! Autumn 2009 will witness its Silver Screen Season with daytime screenings of classics with free tea and cake. Watch this space for details.

  • Cafe Crema


    Bohemian venue in the heart of New Cross offers delicious food and wine with your cinema ticket (£6) and an eclectic range of movies from Night of the Iguana to Belleville Rendez-vous and Documentary Seasons.     Benefiting from the film-enthusiast staff, Lewisham libraries have transformed into the most consistently programmed venues in the borough. Check out the latest family films, rom coms, action movies, Black History Month themed releases at Downham, Sydenham, Forest Hill and Manor Park.   • Age Exchange in Blackheath Village


    Certainly one of the prettiest settings in the borough, the Age Exchange Film Club programmes a wide range of vintage and modern films.

The LFI often organizes one-off screenings and events alone or in conjunction with our partners.
